Explanation of my mask and its message
This mask by Jérémy Gobé is intended to raise awareness of the disappearance of corals, by the juxtaposition of living coral (colored) against dead coral (white). Coral reefs significantly reduce damage from storms and hurricanes, as well as absorbing the devastating energy of tsunamis. Without them, some countries located in the atolls such as the Maldives, Kiribati, Tuvalu and the Marshall Islands would no longer exist. As with forests, coral reefs are great CO2 sinks. They are home to 25% of marine biodiversity. If we do not act urgently to lessen the effects of global warming, pollution, overfishing and other threats, then these organisms where life thrives will disappear.

This mask was created especially for me by the artist Jérémy Gobé, as part of the Maskbook campaign for the 5th anniversary of the Paris Agreement.
