Explanation of my mask and its message
This mask was especially created for me by the artist David Corvalán, as part of the Maskbook campaign for the 5th anniversary of the Paris Agreement.

Here is his message:
This mask is sculptural object that refers to the place where it was built, the mining city of Calama in the Atacama’s Desert in Chile. In these pandemic-stricken times, in order to highlight the importance of breathing - something that we usually take for granted - this delicate piece woven with copper wire and dry myoporum leaves was made. Its goal is to reflect upon the cost of mining industrialization, and how high pollution and contamination directly affects our bodies and our lives, putting economic development before ecological development. This creation makes reference to an artisan delicacy of the ancestral people and how their understanding and sensitivity to nature can save us.
