PARIS AGREEMENT 5-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change. It was adopted by 196 Parties at COP 21 in Paris, on 12 December 2015 and entered into force on 4 November 2016. According to UNFCCC, its main goal is "to limit global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels".
To celebrate the anniversary of this unprecedented advance and accelerate its implementation, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs has chosen to form an alliance with our Maskbook project! This is no coincidence - Maskbook was created for COP21 and has featured at every Climate COP since!
Our joint campaign begins on the very day of the anniversary of the Paris Agreement, December 12, with a film broadcast by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on its media platforms, directed and edited by our association, Art of Change 21.
This film brings together many personalities, such as: Layne Beachley, Nadine Chandrawinata, Patricia Espinosa, Olivier Giroud, Sônia Guajajara, Anne Hidalgo, Esther Mahlangu, Catherine McKenna, Octopizzo, Ridhima Pandey, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, Jun-Yeol Ryu, Laurence Tubiana, Naoko Yamazaki, Fabiola Yáñez, Liu Ye...
They wear mask created by artists, committed to environmental action, such as: Joko Avianto, Néle Azevedo, Mark Dion, Wen Fang, Jérémy Gobé, Cyrus Kabiru, Janet Laurence, JeeYoung Lee, Luke Rudman, Studio Orta, Giancarlo Valverde, VUNGOC & SON, Marc Walter, Tokujin Yoshioka...
This video, supported by the Schneider Electric Foundation, kicks off a larger Maskbook campaign aimed at all those who wish to mark their support for the implementation of the Paris Agreement in an unprecedented and creative way, and for anyone who wants to join in the fight against climate change and, more generally, is interested in the preservation of our planet. In the coming months, this campaign will also benefit from an unprecedented mobilization of the French diplomatic and cultural network.
Check out the portraits of this campaign in the online portrait gallery and on our Instagram page! And join us! You too can support the Paris Agreement. It’s very easy, you just create your mask and then post your masked portrait and message to the Participation section on our website.
This campaign aims to unite us, bring together our talents, and remind us how climate issues are our number one priority!
Let's keep the momentum going until COP26 in Glasgow, which takes place at the end of 2021.
